Jensan from Rustfoot asked what areas have been played in, within Khara Thel. So I’ve made up a map to show those places. Most gaming has occurred in the kingdom of Iron Claw & its protectorates – the various borderlands, city-state of Phrad, and all along the Nihles Reach.
The overview looks like this:
When we zoom in on Iron Claw we see a bit more detail:
Lots of overland journeys and sea-travels.
The cities most visited are:
Phrad in the SW of the map
Ferris, near the centre – which is also the setting of my novel “A Tale of Rum Town“.
If you want more information about these places download the Khara Thel – Worldbook System Neutral Draft. It contains details on all the towns and cities as well as information about their environs – as well as armour, weapons, magic, items, people and the rest of the world.

That’s crazy. Do the players share your sense of familiarity to this world as well? Or even: is there some place in the world they have more knowledge or feel more home about than you?

Is that a good crazy or a bad crazy?
Yes – the players who got serious about their campaigns developed a sense of familiarity and even moved into certain locations to live because of their love of the places. Two of them being:
Matsuji & The Celestrial Dragon Monastery (not on the maps)
Inglemeyer & the Hogshead Tavern, in the Warrens of Rum Town, a ward of Ferris.
Two places that are interesting but I’d never feel at home in them like those PCs did.
Ferris is very popular. Fibb: who doesn’t comment very often, has written a bunch of stories set in the Duchy of Amblehock which we just attached to Iron Claw with quite a few references to Ferris. Fibb adventured mostly in Ferris but also in Phrad (through a tournament) and to Timber Falls.
Yve: who’s just started in Khara Thel, in Rum Town, began writing a story based on the experience.
Maps were always on the table (player’s versions mostly) and long journeys being planned. Arguments about whether to dock at Sailor’s Stop, or not, taking place. Finding ships and planning journeys from Phrad to Krakmoor and back to Ferris. Then meeting in another city in 2 months.
Since I’ve been building it for so long it’s got a great deal of solidity and that carries through into the game & my long-winded replies.

Good crazy, of course!
Do you remember where the first adventure took place? Or was that in Iron Claw as well?
